The Shard, deemed the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, with its 309.6 metres (1,016ft) of height, was officially inaugurated last night with a spectacular laser show. Although the completion of the exterior of The Shard Plaza was celebrated, construction work inside is about to continue for one more year.
It is good news for London cleaners, a skyscraper to be cleaned means after builders clearance and maintenance, waste management, with about 56,000 sq metres of glass to be made sparkling clean at least twice a month.
Imagining a building with a total floor space of up to 27 acres, the tallest hotel in Western Europe, is a site many cleaning companies in London would love to maintain clean. Additional 55,000 sq metres of offices and gardens will fill floors 4-28.
Although Brits already pride themselves on having the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, The Shard is inferior in size, being the 59th tallest in the world. It is 3 times shorter than Dubai’s giant of the world – Burj Khalifa.
